Dr Tatjana Vologdina awarded the Felicija Bortkevičienė Language Award 2025

The award ceremony of the Felicija Bortkevičienė Language Prize took place at the Palace of the Grand Dukes in Vilnius. The 2025 recipient of the prize was dr Tatjana Vologdina, Head of the Centre for Lithuanian Language and Culture Studies at the University of Wrocław. The award was granted in recognition of her significant contribution to promoting the Lithuanian language and culture beyond the country’s borders, as well as for nurturing Lithuanian academic and cultural traditions in the diaspora.

Upon receiving the honour, dr Tatjana Vologdina emphasised that working for the benefit of Lithuanian language and culture abroad is not only a professional duty for her, but a true vocation. She spoke with pride about her students who, as she noted, become genuine ambassadors of Lithuania, passionately discovering and promoting its language and culture. A particular achievement of the laureate is the establishment in Wrocław of an important centre for Lithuanian studies, which has developed into a place of intensive academic and cultural cooperation.

The Felicija Bortkevičienė Award is awarded by the Commission of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania for Lithuanian Traditions and Heritage to individuals who have rendered outstanding service to the protection and promotion of the Lithuanian language. This year’s award recognises Dr Tatjana Vologdina’s many years of dedicated work and her contribution to building a positive image of Lithuanian culture abroad.
