
Anti-discrimination ombudswoman
Joanna Kuźmicka-Sulikowska
PhD, professor at the University of Wrocław, research and teaching fellow at the Department of Civil Law and Private International Law at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław. She has authored more than 150 publications in the field of civil law, including several scientific monographs and academic textbooks, and co-authored commentaries on the Civil Code. Her research interests revolve around the following areas: property law; inheritance law; tort liability, in particular liability for damage caused in the exercise of public authority and liability for damage caused by a dangerous product; property liability of public officials for damage caused by gross violations of the law; statute of limitations; clinical teaching of law and organisation of the university legal clinic movement.
For years, she has been involved in the movement of clinical legal education and pro bono legal counseling. Since 10.02.2011, she has served as a scientific supervisor of the University Legal Clinic operating at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław. Since 1.12.2014, she has been the head of the Centre for Clinical Legal Education operating within the Civil Law Institute at the aforementioned Faculty. Since 2014, she has been a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the Foundation for University Legal Clinics “Klinika”.
From 1 March 2024 to 31 August 2024, she served as the Rector’s Representative for student and doctoral student safety. As of 1.09.2024, she is Deputy Director of the Institute of Civil Law at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics at the University of Wrocław, as well as the Ombudswomanfor equal treatment and anti-discrimination at the University of Wrocław.

The tasks of the Ombudsperson for equal treatment and anti-discrimination at the University of Wrocław include:
- taking action for equal treatment and equal opportunities for the entire academic community;
- taking action to raise awareness about the principle of equal treatment, in particular in the form of meetings or training sessions for the academic community;
- taking action aimed at eliminating all forms of discrimination and unequal treatment at the UWr;
- supporting the academic community in the implementation of applicable anti-discrimination policies.
* The Ombudsperson for equal treatment and anti-discrimination at the University of Wrocław can be addressed, among other things:
requests for informal resolution of the case in case of experience of actions violating equality or of a discriminatory nature (based on the Ordinance No. 106/2020 of the Rector of the University of Wrocław of 18 August 2020 on on the introduction of anti-discrimination policy at the University of Wrocław, the determination of the operating rules of the Committee for Equal Treatment at the University of Wrocław and of the Ombudsperson for equality and non-discrimination at the University of Wrocław, consolidated text in the Announcement of the Rector of the University of Wrocław of 18 December 2020)
and
requests to set up a so-called overlay on the IT systems used within the university to serve students (such as USOS or Microsoft Office tools) for transgender or non-binary people who want to hide their so-called deadname in the virtual space and use their preferred data in the virtual space adequate to their perceived gender identity.
