Events of the UWr Willy Brandt Centre – May 2024

We would like to invite you to upcoming events organised by the W. Brandt Centre for German and European Studies.

On Tuesday, 14 May 2024 at 5 pm, a screening of the film ‘Treaty/Der Vertrag’ will take place at the Centre’s headquarters at ul. Strażnicza 1-3 in Wrocław. After the film, we invite you to a discussion with the film’s director, dr Jacek Kubiak, and the director of the Willy Brandt Centre UWr, prof. Krzysztof Ruchniewicz. Strażnicza 1-3 in Wrocław: ‘Fritz Bauer’s Legacy’. The film will be followed by a discussion with prof. Krzysztof Ruchniewicz and dr Andrzej Bryl. (more at -> https://tinyurl.com/fritz-bauers-legacy) on Tuesday 21 May 2024 at 14:00-15:30 in room 43 of the Centre there will be a lecture by prof. dr. Adolfo Calatrava (Universidad Complutense, Madrid) entitled ‘Spain and the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine: official positions and public debates’. Lecture in English.

Also on Tuesday 21 May 2024 at 17:00 in room 13 of the Centre there will be an author meeting with prof. dr. hab. Jan Piskorski (University of Szczecin) around the book Bitwy o przeszłość. Nauka, polityka, media, edukacja. The meeting will be hosted by prof. Krzysztof Ruchniewicz.

We would like to invite you to the Open Days at the Centre on Wednesday 22 May 2024 from 11:00 – 12:30. The meeting will be devoted to the recruitment for the MA field of study ‘Interdisciplinary European Studies’ (ISE) conducted at the University of Wrocław by the Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences and the Willy Brandt Centre for German and European Studies and will be held in a hybrid form (more at -> https://tinyurl.com/ynp48rw7). Also on Wednesday 22 May 2024 at 16:00 in room 13 of the Centre there will be a lecture by Dr. Ansbert Baumann entitled ‘Gastarbeiterfußball. Fußball und Migrationen in Deutschland‘ (’Gastarbeiterfußball. Football and migration in Germany’). The lecture will be held in German (more at -> https://tinyurl.com/A-Baumann).
