Date:

19 January 2024, 15:00 - 17:00

Place:

We would like to invite you to the next meeting of the Warsztat Młodego Naukowca 2023/24 (Young Scientist Workshop 2023/24) series! WMN is a series of interdisciplinary meetings accompanying the Niewidzialne Kolokwia. It is dedicated to the development of scientific competence of students(-s), doctoral students(-s) and researchers at an early stage of their careers. Most of the training is conducted by distinguished Member(s) of the Collegium Invisibile Association, who are themselves outstanding young researchers. Important! Registration is mandatory, please register at the link.

The meeting „Zachowaj balans: zdrowie psychiczne w pracy badawczej” (“Keep the balance: mental health in research work”) aims to increase the knowledge and practical competence of participants in the subject of mental health and issues that threaten mental wellbeing among people working in research.

The meeting will be divided into following parts: theory and practice-discussion. The theory part will discuss the most common disorders that people working in science may experience, such as burnout, psychological distress, sleep disorders, depression or addiction tendencies. Attendees will be able to see diagnostic scales for the disorders in question, although it is worth noting that this exercise will be aimed at increasing understanding of the topic discussed, rather than self-diagnosis.

In the practice-discussion part, the presenter will show the most popular techniques for coping with stress, as well as provide information on places and institutions that provide support in emotional crisis. In this module, participants will be able to share their own thoughts and experiences. Discussion topics will be moderated in real time by the presenter.

The presenter:

dr Jagoda Hofman-Hutna: a doctor, researcher and member of the Polki w Medycynie Foundation (Polish Women in Medicine). She has been a student at Collegium Invisibile since 2023. She realized her medical studies at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice and Julius-Maximilians Universität in Würzburg. She is the recipient of a Scholarship from the polish Minister of Health awarded in recognition of excellent scientific achievements. Her interests include the genetic basis of mental diseases, neuroradiology and the links between psychiatry and endocrine disorders. In 2021, she was part of the Cognescence research team led by prof. David Rubinsztein from Cambridge University, acting as a medical consultant for a project on cognitive disorders. Her main focus at the Polki w Medycynie Foundation (Polish Women in Medicine) is the scientific development section and mental health topics – designing reports, information campaigns and taking an active part in public debates, including at the Polish Senate. She has also attended neuroscience summer schools at Radboud University, the University of Groningen, and Nottingham Trent University. In August 2024, she begins a clinical internship in psychiatry at Klinik Favoriten in Vienna, where she plans to continue her scientific and clinical work.

The entire series is held under the Rector’s Honorary Patronage from: AGH University of Kraków, Jagiellonian University, University of Wrocław and University of Szczecin. The event is organized in partnership with BITECH ThinkTank. The WMN series is carried out in cooperation with the Polki w Medycynie Foundation (Polish Women in Medicine).
