This year’s guest speaker in the Stanisław Pietraszko Lecture series will be prof. Mieke Bal. The lecture, entitled ‘Multi-tentacled Time: On Urgency’, combined with the screening of the film ‘It’s About Time! Reflections on Urgency’ will take place on 15 May at 17.00 in the Oratorium Marianum in the Main Building of the University of Wrocław.
Mieke Bal is one of the most prominent and significant contemporary cultural theorists and critics, as well as a film essayist. Her books have been groundbreaking for cultural, artistic and literary studies. She is the author of more than forty books. Her research interests include biblical and classical antiquity, 17th-century and contemporary art and literature. She is also close to feminism, ecology and identity issues. In Polish, she has published Narratologia. Wprowadzenie do teorii narracji (2012) and Wędrujące pojęcia w naukach humanistycznych. Krótki przewodnik (2012).
