The Willy Brandt Center for German and European Studies of the University of Wrocław together with the Conference of Polish Ambassadors, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, and the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Wrocław would like to invite everyone to an author meeting with the former German Ambassador of Poland, Arndt Freytag von Loringhoven. The meeting and the discussion on the challenges faced by Poland and Germany in the face of the war in Ukraine will take place on Tuesday, 14 November 2023 at 4.45 pm.
The interest in Germany, its eastern policy and Polish-German relations, including historical issues, is very much alive in Poland. The last election campaign showed that knowledge of the western neighbour on the Vistula is fragmentary and, to a large extent, based on stereotypes and prejudices.
A several weeks ago, appeared an extended interview with the former German ambassador of Poland, Arndt Freytag von Loringhoven, conducted by the Rzeczpospolita journalist, Jędrzej Bielecki, entitled “We are not building a Fourth Reich”. We decided to take this publication as an opportunity to stimulate a discussion on the challenges faced by Poland and Germany in the light of the war in Ukraine and changes in the world. We have planned two panel discussions. Detailed programme below.
