On March 3, 2023, the Institute of Slavic Studies will hold the second edition of the Cesta k překladu competition, which was very popular among high school students in Wrocław in 2022.

The contest is addressed to high school students who are implementing the Czech language program. The task of the contest participants will be to translate a fragment of a literary text from Czech into Polish. The translations made in teams of three will be judged by a jury consisting of research and teaching staff from the Department of Bohemian Studies and students of Czech studies in Wrocław.

During the jury deliberations, pupils and students will take part in workshops prepared by IFS (Institute of Slavic Studies) lecturers: mgr Olga Chernikov and mgr Beata Jastrowicz-Żegiestowska.

The second edition of the Cesta k překlad competition is co-organized by employees of two units of the UWr Faculty of Letters: dr hab. Jaroslaw Malicki, dr Mateusz Wisniewski, dr Dorota Żygadlo-Czopnik from the Department of Bohemian Studies at the Institute of Slavic Studies, and Regina Solová from the Department of Translation Studies at the Institute of Romance Studies in cooperation with Student Scientific Association of Czech Studies.

The prizes are funded by the UWr Faculty of Letters and the Parents’ Council of High School No. 9 in Wrocław.

Translated by Paulina Rześniowiecka (student of English Studies at the University of Wrocław) as part of the translation practice.
