Exhibition of Wiesław Smętek’s works
Wiesław Smętek is a Polish illustrator, graphic designer and painter, who has been living in Germany for many years. His designs are characteristically humorous and flippant. Their main theme is historical events, including those connected with Polish history and Poland – Germany relations. Smętek has his own way of “parodying” the works of Polish and foreign maestros of painting. First, he provokes the viewer, then he elicits some thoughts from him, but finally he leaves him a bit wiser than he was before. The artist’s most important and captivating works are being exhibited in the building of the Mathematical Tower of the University of Wrocław. The exhibition was organized in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Willy Brandt Center for German and European Studies.
