First aid a challenge to security
The Centre for Security Studies and Education of the University of Wrocław and the Faculty of Security Studies of the Military University of Land Forces in Wrocław, in cooperation with the UWr Department of the Sociology of Security and Education and the UWr Faculty of Social Sciences, invite you for the 1st Expert Informational-Training-Workshop Conference on March 3, for the Managing Staff, as well as the Research and Teaching Staff and the Administration of the UWr and AWL, as part of the First Aid A Challenge to Security BLS (Basic Life Support).
The conference will take place in the Faculty of Social Studies in the A hall of the Institute of Political Science of the University of Wrocław, at ul. Koszarowa 3 in Wrocław.
Prof. UWr dr hab. Barbara Wiśniewska-Paź, director of the UWr Centre for Security Studies and Education and coordinator of the project:
“As part of the cooperation between the University of Wrocław and the Military University of Land Forces in Wrocław, a concept of a project was made, which – depending on demand – is intended to take part cyclically, realized not only at higher education institutions, but also in other environments that express interest in it. We launch the first edition of the project. It is composed of two expert lecture-training-workshop conferences: 1st – BLS (Basic Life Support) on 3 March 2023 at the UWr Faculty of Social Studies, and the 2nd – Injuries – types, specificity, rules of conduct, which is planned to take place on 2 June 2023 on Military University of Land Forces in Wrocław grounds. The knowledge and the specific skills regarding the rules of conduct, linked with civil medicine along with the elements of battlefield medicine is, in the face of modern dangers, obligatory. Thus, the idea to develop the concept and realize the project, was born.”
Both conferences of the project will be composed of two panels: a lecture panel and a training-workshop panel. A larger group of attendees can take part in the lecture panels (up to 100 persons), while training-workshop panels may be attended by up to 60 persons, who will be then divided into 6 groups. Order of applications will apply during the registration.
Those who decide to take part in both conferences (both panels) will receive a printed first aid course certificate upon completing the training as part of the conference and passing the test.
In case of high demand, we plan a second edition of our project in the 2023/24 academic year, with the possibility – for those who are interested – to obtain the international first aider certificate upon passing a separate test, which is linked to having an accreditation from the AWL Faculty of Security Studies obtained from the International First Aid Certification Center (IFACC), authorized to conduct training within this field. International First Aid Certification Center (IFACC) is a research facility which promotes educational programs based on international guidelines on medical emergency and first aid.
The project is coordinated by: prof. UWr dr hab. Barbara Wiśniewska-Paź UWr and dr Beata Zysiak-Christ AWL
For both events, registration is required. The registration for the 1st conference (3 March 2023) is now available. The deadline for registration is 24 February 2023.
