German-Polish scientific conference
On 19-20 February 2024, a scientific conference entitled ‘Deutschland und Polen: schwierige Geschichte, aktuelle Herausforderungen, gemeinsame Zukunft’ (Germany and Poland: difficult history, current challenges, common future) was held at the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Wrocław and the UWr Institute for International and Security Studies.
It was organised by the Department of German Studies at the Institute of International and Security Studies, at the invitation of which academics representing the Department of Comparative Politics at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and accompanying students took part in the proceedings. The conference in Wrocław was an important element of the close cooperation between the two Departments within the framework of the research project entitled “Demokratie(n) in Bewegung: Deutschland und Polen im Vergleich”, implemented between 2022 and 2024 within the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Eastern Partnership Programme. The close relationship and intensive cooperation of the units led by professors Tadeusz Lebioda and Klaus Stüwe – who is also Vice-President for International Affairs and Profile Development at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt – provided the impetus for the signing of a partnership agreement between the two universities on 30 January 2024.
