Grant for a researcher from the Faculty of Modern Languages, Cultures and Literatures
Dr Hanna Kędzierska from the UWr Faculty of Modern Languages, Cultures and Literatures has received a grant to carry out research entitled. ‘Wpływ wymowy cudzoziemskiej na przetwarzanie błędów w idiomach: badanie psycholingwistyczne’. She is one of five people from our university to receive an NCN Miniatura grant in the latest September distribution.
Dr Hanna Kędzierska is an assistant professor at the Institute of English Studies at the University of Wrocław, and a member of the Center for Experimental Research on Natural Language. Her research interests include psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics, with a particular focus on multilingualism.
The main aim of her project is to deepen the understanding of speech processing with so-called foreign accents, especially in relation to idioms spoken by native and non-native speakers.
The project will include a psycholinguistic experiment involving native speakers of Polish with advanced English language skills – says the researcher.
The results of the pilot study will allow the preparation of a proposal for a larger research project, in which the author intends to focus on the processing of foreign pronunciation using the technique of situational evoked potentials.
The winners of the latest NCN Miniatures award from the University of Wrocław also included:
dr Wojciech Wiertelak from the Faculty of Biotechnology, who received a grant for research entitled ‘Wpływ terapii galaktozą na transkryptom komórek ludzkich’
dr Daria Derkacz from the Faculty of Biotechnology, who received a grant for research entitled ‘Izolacja i określenie struktury β-glukanu pozyskanego ze ściany komórkowej szczepów Candida albicans z zaburzoną syntezą ergosterolu oraz ocena wpływu β-glukanu na odpowiedź zapalną i komórkową’

During the eighth edition of the competition, it was possible to obtain funding ranging from PLN 5 000 to PLN 50 000 for the implementation of an annual scientific activity.
