Heads of doctoral schools at the University of Wrocław

On 9 June 2025, the University of Wrocław hosted representatives of doctoral schools from Wrocław’s higher education institutions at the Collegium Antropologicum. The meeting was held at the invitation of prof. Artur Błażejewski, Vice-Rector for Research, and prof. Robert Klementowski, Rector’s Plenipotentiary for the Doctoral School of the University of Wrocław.

The following accepted the invitation: prof. Dominika Bąk-Grabowska (Dean of the Doctoral School at the Wrocław University of Economics and Business), prof. Magdalena Szymura (Director of the Doctoral School at the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences), prof. Mirosław Banasik (Director of the Doctoral School at the Wrocław Medical University), prof. Jakub Jernajczyk (Dean of the Doctoral School at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design), prof. Tomasz Kienik (Director of the Doctoral School at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music), Colonel (Ret.) dr inż. Andrzej Michaluk (Director of the Doctoral School at the General Tadeusz Kościuszko Military University of Land Forces), prof. Krzysztof Walkowiak (Dean of the Doctoral School at Wrocław University of Science and Technology)

The discussions focused on the prospects of strengthening relationships between doctoral schools in Wrocław on two levels: as a community of practitioners and as an environment actively engaged on local, regional, national, and international fronts. The aim is not only to exchange experiences in managing doctoral schools, but also to foster cooperation in supporting education and academic supervision for doctoral candidates. The agreement between the doctoral schools involves promoting research achievements externally and building the reputation of Wrocław’s academic community as expert voices in socially, politically, and economically significant discussions.

Monday’s meeting marks the beginning of regular cooperation between doctoral schools of Wrocław’s universities and has already led to the first decisions: to prepare a formal cooperation agreement and to create a platform for ongoing communication. The next meeting is scheduled for later in June.
