
Inauguration of the academic year 2024/2025 in the College for Interdisciplinary Studies
The College for Interdisciplinary Individual Studies of the University of Wrocław is pleased to invite you to the IMMATRICULATION and INAUGURATION ceremony of the 2024/2025 ACADEMIC YEAR.
The ceremony will take place on 28 November 2024 (Thursday), at 12:00 pm in the Aula Leopoldina at the University of Wrocław.
During the ceremony, a guest lecture entitled “Filologia w czasach sztucznej inteligencji” by prominent Polish language scholar and translator of Polish literature Mr. Professor Luigi Marinelli of the University of Rome “La Sapienza” is scheduled.

BIO
Prof. dr. Luigi Marinelli – since 1994 head of the Department of Polish Studies at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (Faculty of Lettere e Filosofia), where he has served as Vice-Dean, Director of the Department of European, American and Intercultural Studies, and Coordinator of Slavic Doctoral Studies.
Repeatedly awarded and honored for his scientific and academic activities. Foreign member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, doctor honoris causa Jagiellonian University in Kraków. In 2007 he was awarded the gold medal “Gloria Artis” for his contribution to the dissemination of Polish culture.
He conducted research in the fields of Polish studies and comparative studies, with a particular focus on Polish-Italian relations and the Old Polish era (studies of the works of Jan Kochanowski, Mikołaj Sęp Szarzyński, Szymon Zimorowic, Jan Andrzej Morsztyn, 2 volumes of the critical edition of the Adona (1993), an anonymous 17th-century version of the L’Adone G.B. Marin, and a related monograph Polish Adon. On the rhetoric and poetics of translation, 1997).
He has been involved in creative works, among others:
– Eighteenth-century authors such as: Ignacy Krasicki, Franciszek Dionizy Kniaźnin, Franciszek Bohomolec;
– nineteenth-century artists: Maria Wirtemberska, Adam Mickiewicz, Henryk Sienkiewicz;
– poets and writers creating in the 20th century: Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz, Aleksander Wat, Bruno Jasieński, Julian Tuwim, Bruno Schulz, Witold Gombrowicz, Czesław Miłosz; Zbigniew Herbert, Wisława Szymborska, Tadeusz Kantor, Stanisław Lem and others and
– recent literature.
He is interested in theoretical and comparative issues, namely: problems of literary historiography, “European” and “national” canons, translation studies and translation analysis, “minority” and “dominant” cultures and literatures, intercultural, gender and postcolonial studies, and literature and music.
He is the author of some three hundred publications in various languages and a translator of Polish literature.
