Inauguration of the Work-Net International Network
Dr hab. Adam Mrozowicki, prof. UWr and Head of the Department of Sociology of Work and Economy, participated in the inauguration of the Work-Net International network at the University of Manchester on 21–22 January 2025.
Work-Net International aims to promote research and teaching collaboration between research centres and institutes conducting studies on the world of work globally. Its activities will include support for early-career researchers and the development of research groups, as well as fostering international research collaboration and policy dialogue.
The Department of Sociology of Work and Economy at the Institute of Sociology, University of Wrocław, is among 31 research centres from Europe, North America, Africa, and Asia that joined the network at its founding.
The inauguration took place during the 6th edition of the international Fairness at Work conference, organised by the Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) at the University of Manchester. The event was attended by over 140 participants, including representatives from 26 founding institutions and the International Labour Organization. It was organised by the team that initiated the network’s creation, led by Professor Jill Rubery of the Work & Inequalities Institute at the Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS), University of Manchester.
During the meeting, discussions included plans to apply for joint research projects, including those funded by the EU, and to support collaboration between doctoral students within the network.
