Intergenerational Pedagogies of Remembrance – seminar

The staff of the Faculty of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Wrocław invite to the seminar Intergenerational Pedagogies of Remembrance: Arts, Curatorship and Youth Participation.

The seminar Intergenerational Pedagogies of Remembrance: Arts, Curatorship and Youth Participation (Międzypokoleniowe pedagogie pamięci: Sztuka, praktyki kuratorskie i partycypacja młodzieży) marks the launch of the work of the international team of the COREM project: Collective Remembrance: Engaging Youth Through Curatorial Practices.

The project partners are: Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona (lead institution), the History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute in Yerevan, the Education University of Hong Kong, the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, and the University of Wrocław.

The University of Wrocław is represented by dr hab. Justyna Deszcz-Tryhubczak, prof. UWr; dr hab. Irena Barbara Kalla, prof. UWr and dr Katarzyna Liszka. The project is funded under the European Commission’s Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme.

The project focuses on scholarly reflection on practices of transmitting the memory of genocides through curatorial work. Participants will discuss exhibitions addressed to children and young people, as well as those co-created with them. The project also has a practical dimension: museums involved in the initiative will develop, together with young people, exhibition projects dedicated to difficult pasts.

The seminar will take place on 8 October at the Taube Department of Jewish Studies, ul. Św. Jadwigi 3/5, Wrocław, room 115. Online participation will also be possible. Link to follow.
