International Holocaust Remembrance Day and 80th anniversary of the liberation of the German camp Auschwitz-Birkenau
27 January marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day, established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2005 to commemorate Jews murdered by the Germans during World War II.
The date of the holiday, set for 27 January, commemorates the liberation of the German Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau – now one of the most important Holocaust Memorials – by Red Army troops in 1945.
We invite you to listen to a conversation with our researcher dr Katarzyna Liszka from the Institute of Cultural Studies (Department of Cultural Theory and Criticism, Institute of Cultural Studies, Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences), which was conducted today on Polish Radio 24.
We would like to thank the radio station for making the recording available
