Is it possible to avoid the horror of human trafficking?

The educational project called “Escapetruck”, coming to Poland for the first time, will initiate on 27 October at 10 o’clock in the “Memory and Future” Centre (The Depot History Centre) at ul. Grabiszyńska 184 in Wrocław. The project tackles the problem of human trafficking in an innovative way, focusing mainly on forced labour and sexual abuse. The inauguration will be conducted by the Vice Mission Chief in the Embassy of the Netherlands, Mr Taco Stoppels in the company of the city officials, representatives of University of Wrocław and representatives of the police.

Escapetruck is an initiative of the Dutch foundation Reshape and it was established with the financial support of the Dutch police and the Embassy of the Netherlands. The project was initiated in Poland in collaboration with the Centre for Research on Trafficking in Human Beings located at the University of Wrocław and with the Polish police and the border guard.

The subject of human trafficking will be presented to the visitors in the form of an escape room. Even though it is a game, the visitors will be met with some shocking and reflection-encouraging experience.

The participants will get to know the true stories of women and men who were the victims of human trafficking in Poland but managed to escape with the help of the authorities. During the game, the participants, in the groups of up to 6 participants, will have to get out of the truck by completing interactive tasks and breaking the codes. The main task will be to help a virtual victim to get out of the abusive situation. The space in the escape room was prepared in such a way so it reflects the living conditions of the victims of human trafficking. The participants should expect some disturbing noises and smells and they will be able to experience the atmosphere of closed spaces.

The police officers present at the event will be giving information to the participants about the danger, the ways the criminals work and the consequences of human trafficking. The goal of the event is to raise social awareness and to ensure the visibility of the victims and their traumas.

If you are ready to help the victims of a tragic situation and learn about the human trafficking, join us and try to get away. The participation is free and everyone over the age of 16 is welcome to join. Escapetruck will be open for visitors until the evening hours on Sunday, 29 October.
