It’s time to start the GeoBaltic Adventure!

On 4 August, the Student Scientific Association of Geologists of the University of Wrocław, under the honorary patronage of the Rector, prof. Robert Olkiewicz, set out on board the STS Generał Zaruski from Szczecin on a 12-day voyage on the Baltic Sea. Twenty-five people are taking part in the expedition, and the crew consists mostly of geology students and their tutors. The aim of the cruise is to explore the western waters of the Baltic Sea, their most interesting geological formations, and to learn the difficult art of seafaring. The cruise entitled “GeoBaltic Adventure: Sailing Through Time” covers the coasts of Germany, Denmark and Sweden. During the expedition, a series of scientific studies related to the geological history of the lands of the Baltic Sea basin are planned. Also participating during the voyage is dr Tomasz Rożek from Nauka. To lubię.

An account of the expedition can be followed on the website of the Institute of Geology at the University of Wrocław, as well as on the social media of the UWr Student Association of Geologists. We wish you good winds!

Below is the planned itinerary for the ‘GeoBaltic Adventure: Sailing Through Time’ cruise. The itinerary starts in Szczecin and goes via Rügen, the Jutland Peninsula, Zeeland, Skåne and Bornholm, ending in Świnoujście. Detailed information and explanations of the selected destinations can be found on the institute’s website.
