Jean Monnet network meeting at the University of Wrocław
The Jean Monnet Chair ReDemo at the Faculty of Social Sciences hosted a meeting of the Jean Monnet Network on E-Governance and Digital Transformation in the EU (ENDE).
Jean Monnet Networks are prestigious EU-funded research collaborations consisting of scholars leading Jean Monnet centres, chairs, or modules. The main focus of the newly established ENDE network concerns the practical implementation of e-governance within the European Union. The rapid pace of digitalisation is not only transforming the lives of citizens but also influencing perceptions of the European Union and the functioning of institutions such as political parties and national parliaments. This interdisciplinary project, which brings together political and European studies, economics, law, international relations, and sociology, aims to understand these processes, anticipate trends, and assess the implications of ongoing changes.
During the meeting, members of the JM Network ENDE exchanged ideas with other research groups working on digitalisation at the University of Wrocław: the Digital Justice Center (prof. Karolina Kremens, UWr) and the COST Action project “Regaining linkage? Digital technologies enhancing civic engagement, political organisations and democracy” (prof. Michał Jacuński, UWr).
The final day was dedicated to a research conference entitled “Digitalisation of Parliaments: Strengthening Institutional Resilience?” During the workshops, participants discussed the application of digital tools, including generative AI, in the legislative context.
