Lecture by Dr Guillermo Sánchez Ungidos at the Institute of Romance Studies

The Faculty of Languages, Literatures and Cultures invites to an open lecture by Dr Guillermo Sánchez Ungidos (Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha), held as part of the IDUB programme. The lecture, entitled Keep it cute, manito: Poetry and cultural identity in Spanish and Latin urban music, will take place on 21 October 2025 (Tuesday) at 17:30 at the Institute of Romance Studies (pl. Nankiera 4, Room 4.8, Wrocław).

Bio

Dr Guillermo Sánchez Ungidos from the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain) is a literary theorist, literary scholar and researcher of phenomena combining various artistic disciplines. His areas of interest include self-referentiality and self-reflection in literature, literary techniques and forms, literary aesthetics, the translation of literary theory into novel and film practice, audiovisual narration, the performativity of poetry, the relationship between literature and music, new phenomena in Spanish literary and musical culture, and contemporary phenomena in media culture. He is an expert on contemporary Spanish poetry and its achievements in the second half of the 20th century. He is an active researcher, teacher, and participant in scientific projects and conferences. As part of his outreach activities, he gives lectures, publishes articles, and is a guest and co-organiser of festivals.

About the lecture

The topic of the open lecture will be new genres of urban music culture, remaining within the sphere of influence of literature, in which the Spanish language is gaining international presence and recognition.
