The Department of Translation Studies at the Institute of Romance Studies of the Faculty of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, cordially invites you to attend lectures by Mr Marcos Randulfe, visiting the University of Wrocław under the “Visiting Professors” initiative of the IDUB programme. The lectures, delivered in Spanish, will be simultaneously interpreted into Polish.
“Audiovisual Translation: From the Lecture Hall to the International Job Market”

Participants will gain insight into the practical aspects of starting a career in this field – where to look for initial assignments, who to contact, how to acquire the necessary skills, and what to expect from work in the audiovisual translation sector.
The session will address questions such as:
- Do you need to be an actor to become an audiovisual translator?
- Does this industry have a future?
- Where should you look for your first assignments?
During the lecture, we’ll explore the behind-the-scenes of the entire audiovisual translation process – from the moment the translator receives the assignment to the final appearance of the content on screen. Understanding each stage of this workflow is key to aligning the translator’s work with the needs of the process and ensuring its smooth execution.
“A Professional and Practical Approach to Conference Interpreting on the Job Market”

This session offers a behind-the-scenes look at the career of a freelance conference interpreter in Spain’s private sector – from graduation to present-day practice. It will cover key aspects of entering the job market, securing the first contracts, the importance of professional associations, the need for continual professional development, and daily work on language skills. The topic of professional ethics will also be addressed.
Participants will have the opportunity to discuss working languages, international career paths, specialisation, and the challenges of freelance work in conference interpreting. The speaker will answer questions such as:
- Where can you find your first clients?
- Can you set boundaries when accepting assignments?
Does this profession have a future.
Biography of Marcos Randulfe
A graduate of the University of Salamanca (Spain) and the University of Bradford (United Kingdom), Marcos Randulfe has completed additional training at Institut Libre Marie Haps (Brussels), as well as in voice training, protocol, and project management. His academic background is complemented by acting training and experience as a voice-over artist and dubbing actor, having taken part in radio, theatre, and film projects. He translates from English, French, and Italian into Spanish and Galician.
For over twenty years, he has worked as a freelance interpreter for private clients, translation agencies, ministries, and both national and international institutions. He provides interpreting services both in person and remotely and delivers courses in interpreting, audiovisual translation, and voice training for conference interpreters. He has two decades of experience translating feature films, TV series, documentaries, animated films, and various audiovisual materials for sound studios across Europe and private clients. In 2017, he received the award for “Best Voice-Over Translation for Film, Television, DVD, or Streaming Platform” at the 5th ATRAE Awards.
