Lower Silesian Development Fund supports young innovators for the fifth time

Since November, applications have been open for the 5th edition of the competition “Wielka Bitwa o Start-up” – one of the most important events promoting academic entrepreneurship in Lower Silesia. The initiative is organised by the Lower Silesian Development Fund, which for five years has been supporting students and recent graduates in developing innovative business ideas.

This year’s edition of the competition is being held in a new, refreshed format. Participants can look forward to even more attractive prizes, investment support, mentoring from experienced business practitioners, and a prize pool exceeding PLN 10,000. The best projects will be presented at the Grand Final on 11 March 2026 at Triqube – the Entrepreneurship Incubator in Wrocław.

The objectives of the competition are:

  • to foster entrepreneurship among students and graduates,
  • to promote Lower Silesia as a region open to business and new technologies,
  • to support young innovators in setting up their own companies,
  • to build relationships between academia, business and investors.

“Wielka Bitwa o Start-up” provides a platform for showcasing innovative ideas and inspiring initiatives. Participants have the opportunity to present their projects to a panel of experts, gain valuable experience and establish meaningful business contacts.

Who can apply?
The competition is open to students of higher education institutions in Lower Silesia and to graduates who completed their studies in the academic years 2023/2024 or 2024/2025.

How to apply?
Applications are accepted only until 31 January 2026. To enter the competition, applicants must submit a pitch deck presentation (up to 15 slides in PDF format), prepared in accordance with the rules set out in the competition regulations.

The event is held under the Honorary Patronage of the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Mr Paweł Gancarz. The competition partners include: the University of Wrocław, the Wrocław University of Economics and Business, the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, the Piasts of Silesia Medical University in Wrocław, WSB Merito University Wrocław, and Lowercap Fund Ltd., DFR ASI.
