Meeting of the EarlyMuse Project in Wrocław!
We are pleased to announce the upcoming meeting of the “A new ecosystem of early music studies (EarlyMuse)” project, which will take place at the Institute of Musicology of the University of Wrocław! This project is part of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST), an organization that funds the creation of research networks known as “COST Actions”. These research networks provide an open space for collaboration among scientists across Europe and beyond, promoting research and innovation.
EarlyMuse – A Unique Project in Early Music Studies
EarlyMuse is one of the few humanities initiatives in the over 50-year history of COST and the first in the field of early music. This project brings together experts from various fields such as musicology, music librarianship, early music performance, and IT engineers with musicological specializations. The Institute of Musicology at the University of Wrocław is actively involved in this endeavor, with key members including dr Grzegorz Joachimiak, who leads the SOURCES working group (WG2) and is the organizer of the Wrocław meeting.
Meeting Program
The meeting will take place from May 22-24, 2024, at the Institute of Musicology, University of Wrocław. During these days, we will host over 40 researchers from 23 countries specializing in early music. The meeting program includes:
- Discussions and exchange of experiences within working groups:
- Sources (WG2)
- Publications (WG3)
- Performances (WG4)
- CORE meeting of the entire project
These meetings will be an excellent opportunity to deepen knowledge and exchange experiences among specialists from various fields related to early music.
Meeting Outcomes
Participation in the sessions is limited to members of the EarlyMuse project, but the outcomes of the discussions and conclusions will be published in a report, similar to the meetings held last year in Lisbon and Barcelona. These reports are available on the project website: https://earlymuse.eu/publications/reports-2/

We warmly encourage you to follow the progress of the EarlyMuse project and to read the published reports, which offer valuable insights into the development of early music research. We invite you to contact us and follow our activities on the website of the Institute of Musicology of the University of Wrocław and on our social media profiles.
