Meeting with Leszek Balcerowicz at the Faculty of Social Sciences
We would like to invite you to a meeting about freedom with Leszek Balcerowicz, which will be held on Monday, 17 January at 13:30 in the Auditorium of the Institute of Political Science at the Faculty of Social Science, University of Wrocław (Building 2/3 on Faculty of Social Science UWr Campus, Koszarowa 3, 51-149 Wrocław).
The meeting is organised as part of the promotion of the latest book published by the FOR Foundation – “ODKRYWAJĄC WOLNOŚĆ 2. W OBRONIE ROZUMU” (eng. “DISCOVERING FREEDOM 2. IN DEFENCE OF REASON”). The event is co-organised by the University of Wrocław and the UWr Faculty of Social Science.
“Odkrywając Wolność 2. W Obronie Rozumu” is a collection of articles from liberal thinkers discussing the fundamental issues of individual freedom and its impact on the development of societies. It is a continuation of the collection of texts about liberty entitled “Odkrywając wolność. Przeciw zniewoleniu umysłów” (eng. “Discovering Freedom. Against the enslavement of minds”) published in 2012. The texts cover a broad variety of topics: What kind of systems best ensure the freedom of the people? What is the relationship between economic freedom and democracy? How does free market capitalism contribute to economic development? Why, despite empirical evidence of the capitalist economic system’s effectiveness, are criticisms of it still being revived? How to implement economic change towards capitalism and how has capitalism changed the world?

The texts for the book were selected and provided an introduction by Leszek Balcerowicz. The editor of the publication is Marcin Zieliński, FOR economist.
The book was published by the Civil Development Forum Foundation and Wydawnictwo Czerwone i Czarne, thanks to the financial support of partners: Economic Freedom Foundation and Sebastian Kulczyk. The book is written in the Polish language.
