Meeting with Prof. Nico Carpentier

As part of the IDUB Visiting Professors Programme, the University of Wrocław is pleased to welcome Prof. Nico Carpentier, a media scholar from Charles University in Prague. The Institute of Journalism and Social Communication warmly invites you to attend Prof. Carpentier’s guest lecture during his visit to our university from 11 to 15 May 2025.

The lecture, titled Integration of Art and Communication Research, will take place on 14 May at 10:00 a.m. in room 118 at the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication (ul. Joliot-Curie 15).

Bio

Nico Carpentier is Professor at the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism at Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic), and a Visiting Professor at the Baltic Film, Media and Arts School in Tallinn. From 2020 to 2024, he served as President of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) – one of the most influential global organisations for media and communication scholars.

He is the author of numerous acclaimed and widely cited publications, including:

Prof. Carpentier’s research focuses on discourse theory and explores the intersections of communication, politics, and culture. His work addresses key societal domains such as war and conflict, ideology, participation, and democracy.
