MIGRATIONS IN CONTEMPORARY GERMAN CINEMA
We invite you to film screenings from the series “Migrations in contemporary German cinema” which will take place every Monday from 23 October to 4 December at 5 p.m. in Willy Brandt Centre of the University of Wrocław (ul. Strażnicza 1-3). Discussions with experts are scheduled after every screening.
People with a migrant background make up almost 30% of German society. German cinema tells about (post)migrants and is made by (post)migrants. Given the relevance of this topic – today and in the future – for Europe as a whole and for Poland in particular, a closer look at the German experience and its cinematic representations can be cognitively fruitful. We encourage everyone, both those interested in migrations and our western neighbour’s cinematography and those willing to watch interesting films and discuss them, to attend the meetings.
The program features seven German films from 2017 to 2021, which in different ways relate to the series’ issues. Among them, there are titles already known in Poland, as well as those which have never been in our distribution. These films are representatives of the migrant strand in contemporary German cinema, and the honours they have received can attest to their value.
Entrance to all the meetings is free.
