Błękitny fin de siècle now in stock!
We’re going to enchant the cold and grey reality a little today – at the University of Wrocław Publishing House, sunshine and good humour are guaranteed by delivery from the printers! Justyna Bajda’s eagerly awaited new book, „Błękitny fin de siecle”, has already arrived in stores. WUWr shows that a scholarly publication can be beautifully produced, can attract attention and delight not only with its content but also with its sensual experience! Let yourself be taken on an extraordinary journey and experience the blustery atmosphere of the turn of the 20th century transferred from France to Poland. The book features nearly one hundred illustrations showing the use of blue in art and literature at the turn of the century. In addition, there is a glossary of French names for pigments and their shades, fashion terms and explanations of the symbolic meaning of flowers. On the inside of the wrapper, you will discover a colour chart showing the differences between the blue of the chicory flower, the blue of the swallow’s plumage, royal blue, southern seas and dozens more! The item is now available for pre-order with delivery or can be picked up in person at pl. Uniwersytecki 15.

Autorytarny proces karny. Rzetelność procesu karnego w państwie niepraworządnym
On Friday, a new position in criminal law also arrived from the printing house straight to WUWr – „Autorytarny proces karny. Rzetelność procesu karnego w państwie niepraworządnym” edited by prof. Jerzy Skorupka and dr Dorota Czerwińska. The monograph is the aftermath of an all-Polish scientific conference – the 8th Wrocław Criminal-Process Seminar, which took place on 17 April 2023 at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław. The publication brings together articles by eminent representatives of the doctrine of law (not only criminal law), making up a multi-faceted analysis of the features of the authoritarian criminal process in its Polish model. The monograph not only criticises the discussed phenomena, but also proposes solutions to restore the fairness of criminal proceedings, whether ?? ???? ???? – by way of interpretation, or ?? ???? ??????? – by way of postulated changes in state law. The book will be delivered to the authors and will be on sale today, during the IX Wrocław Criminal Procedure Seminar – “Foundations of the new criminal process” organised by the Department of Criminal Procedure FLAE! You can find it in the online bookstore at this link: Autorytarny proces karny. Rzetelność procesu karnego w państwie niepraworządnym | Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego (wuwr.eu)
Another WUWr journal in the DOAJ database
We are pleased to announce that another journal published by WUWr – “Estudios Hispánicos” – has been included in the DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) database, the others being “Góry, Literatura, Kultura”, “Roczniki Biblioteczne” and “Anglica Wratislaviensia”. In order for a journal to be accepted into the database, it must meet a number of quality criteria related to good scientific publishing practices and openness criteria related to the open access policy applied.
You can take a look at the journal’s profile at DOAJ here: Estudios Hispánicos – DOAJ (the first tab contains information about the journal, the second tab contains metadata of published articles). It is the largest database collecting information on journals published in open access. Its aim is to increase the visibility of open access journals and to make them easier to use. The database only indexes scientific journals that apply an appropriate quality control system for their published content. It has been in existence since 2003 and, thanks to its procedures, is the most trusted catalogue of open access journals. Information from the DOAJ is used to flag open access articles in databases such as Scopus and the Web of Science Core Collection.
Congratulations to the editors!
