Doświadczenie mistyczne w kulturze i nauce

We would like to encourage you to read the extremely interesting item ‘Doświadczenie mistyczne w kulturze i nauce’, edited by dr hab. Marlena Krupa-Adamczyk and dr Tomasz Szymański and from the Institute of Romance Studies at the University of Wrocław.

The ambiguity of religious states and experiences is an issue that has been debated since the days when science transcended belief. The troubles of rational thinking then began to be accompanied by feeling, which became fundamental to the understanding of religion and metaphysical experiences.

Mystical experiences, as the American philosopher and psychophysiologist William James observed, always remain unspeakable, intangible and temporary. People experiencing them can only surrender to them, but later try to talk about them, name them, and their message can become an inspiration for artists, a fascinating object of inquiry for researchers and an impetus for other people’s spiritual search.

The mystical experience can be looked at from a variety of perspectives: philosophical, historical, religious studies, literary and literary studies, anthropological and neuroscientific. One can also attempt to cross the boundaries between these disciplines. The volume presented here contains articles in five languages by scholars from different countries who have devoted their attention to the most nebulous and most difficult to grasp aspects of mystical experience.

Czasopisma Naukowe w Sieci

The latest issue of ‘Studia Philosophica Wratislaviensia’ has been published on the platform of journals run by WUWr. As we read in the introduction, the presented collection of articles constitutes ‘an introduction both to the problematic defined (as broadly as possible) as Islamic metaphysics and to the studies themselves (the state, trends and conjunctures of research) concerning or belonging to this area of knowledge. […] One of the inspirations of the project presented here for the study of Islamic metaphysics is Jasser Auda’s ambitious and innovative work on Muslim law, not narrowed down to a technical, specialised study of the foundations (fundamentals), sources, jurisprudence (fiqh) or detailed jurisprudence or legislation related to Sharia. It approaches this area of knowledge from a much more general perspective, challenging many of the historical and currently reproduced dividing lines in different spheres, domains, schools, traditions within ‘Muslim sciences’, and demonstrates its potentially far-reaching impacts.’ The extremely interesting texts were collected and compiled by the volume’s scientific editorial team consisting of dr Urszula Lisowska, dr hab. Artur Pacewicz, prof. Mariusz Turowski.
