
Montenegrin delegation visits the University of Wrocław
The University of Wrocław had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from Montenegro, led by dr Tamara Vujović, Minister of Culture and Media. The purpose of the visit was to establish collaboration between experts from the University of Wrocław and Montenegrin specialists in the field of monument conservation and protection.
The visit began with a welcome by prof. Robert Olkiewicz, Rector of the University of Wrocław, followed by a tour of the University Museum. The guests had the opportunity to see Aula Leopoldina, Oratorium Marianum, and a panoramic view of Wrocław from the Mathematical Tower.
On the second day, the delegation visited the Laboratory of Archaeometry and Monument Conservation at the Institute of Archaeology, where they expanded their knowledge of working with artefacts. They were shown specialist equipment used by chemists and archaeologists for conservation purposes. The group also paid a visit to the Ossolineum. The visit included a tour of the Conservation Department, an exhibition of paintings by Jacek Malczewski, and the Ossolineum Library.
On the final day, the group met with representatives of the Wrocław Botanical Garden to discuss plant cultivation and protection methods. The meeting was accompanied by a walk through the Garden grounds. The last item on the delegation’s itinerary was a visit to the University of Wrocław Library, where guests were introduced to methods of storing and conserving valuable library collections.
The Montenegrin delegation included dr Tamara Vujović, Minister of Culture and Media of Montenegro; Marija Ivanišević, Head of the Minister’s Cabinet; Dobrila Vlahović, Director General of the Directorate for Cultural Heritage; and Ivana Medenica, a representative of the Centre for Conservation and Archaeology of Montenegro. The group was accompanied by Milena Mumin, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Montenegro in Warsaw.
Representing the University of Wrocław were prof. Artur Błażejewski, Vice-Rector for Research, and dr Adrianna Michalewska, Head of the Science Department. They were joined by dr Małgorzata Łakota-Micker from the Institute of International and Security Studies and Anna Klementowska from the Science Department.
