More and more UWr researchers in the TOP 2% most cited worldwide
Stanford University and the Elsevier publishing house have published another edition of a ranking of the most frequently cited, and therefore most influential, researchers in the world (the so-called TOP 2% list). We are delighted that every year more and more scientists from the University of Wrocław appear in the list.
The ranking presents both the list of scientists most frequently cited considering their entire scientific career (career-long impact ) and the authors of the most frequently cited research papers in 2022 (single year impact). The former includes 25 researchers from the University of Wrocław, while the latter includes 20 researchers from our university. Last year, the ‘career-long impact’ list also included 25 researchers from UWr, while the ‘single year impact’ list included 17.
The list is compiled on the basis of the Scopus database. In creating the lists of the most influential researchers, the analysts took into account a number of bibliographic indicators of varying weight. In addition to the number of citations (both with and without self-citation), the Hirsch index, the hm index (a modified Hirsch index that takes into account the number of co-authors of an article), as well as the place and role in the list of authors of a given publication were taken into account, among others. Researchers were ranked according to 22 fields and 176 subfields of science.
