More Czech-Polish events to come
On Thursday, 29 February 2024, the Committee of Scientific and Programmes of the Congresses of Polish Czech Studies and Czech Polish Studies together with the Board of the Polish-Czech Scientific Association met at the University of Wrocław in the Senate Room.
The meeting was chaired by Committee co-chair prof. Jan Rychlík (Charles University in Prague and Technical University in Liberec), member of the Board of the Polish-Czech Scientific Association together with dr Ryszard Gladkiewicz (Chairman of the Board). The guests were welcomed by the Rector of the University, prof. Robert Olkiewicz.
In the circles interested in Polish-Czech scientific and educational cooperation, especially in the Board founded in 2006. The Board, the idea of a Congress of Polish Czech Studies as a broader forum for discussion was born. The Congress was held in autumn 2016. The Congress of Czech Polish Studies was held in autumn 2019. In December 2019, it was agreed to organise the next Congress already as a joint Polish-Czech continuation of these initiatives under the name of the 2nd Congress of Polish Czech and Czech Polish Studies. It will be held in 2023 and the programme will be divided into a September session in Opole and an October session in Prague.
During Thursday’s meeting at the UWr, the preliminary concept of organising the next 3rd Congress in a similar format to last year’s (sessions in the Czech Republic and Poland) was discussed. On Thursday, prof. Marek Bojarski, Rector of the UWr in 2008-2016, was also accepted by acclamation as a member of the Committee. Congratulations!
