New authorities of the Wrocław Branch of the Polish Biochemical Society

The Wrocław Branch of the Polish Biochemical Society has elected its authorities for the 2026–2029 term. The Chair of the Branch is prof. dr hab. Aleksander Czogalla, a scientist from the Faculty of Biotechnology at the University of Wrocław (Department of Cytobiochemistry).

The Deputy Chairs are prof. dr hab. Dariusz Rakus from the Department of Molecular Physiology and Neurobiology of the Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Wrocław, and dr hab. inż. Beata Greb-Markiewicz, prof. PWr (Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Chemistry, Wrocław University of Science and Technology).

The Branch Secretary is dr Magdalena Chmielewska from the Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Wrocław (Department of Evolutionary Biology and Vertebrate Conservation).

An Audit Committee has also been elected, consisting of Chair dr hab. Agnieszka Gizak, prof. UWr (Department of Molecular Physiology and Neurobiology, Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Wrocław), as well as dr Aneta Tarczewska and dr hab. inż. Dominika Bystranowska (Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Chemistry, Wrocław University of Science and Technology).

The Polish Biochemical Society brings together scientists associated with biochemistry, molecular biology and related fields. Its activities focus on supporting the development of these disciplines, integrating the research community, and promoting biochemistry.

The organisation prepares congresses, symposia and other scientific events. The Society publishes and supports the publication of scientific journals, books and other materials related to biochemistry and molecular biology.

The Society cooperates with related associations in Poland and abroad, organising joint events. As an active member of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies, it conducts extensive information activities concerning the Federation’s initiatives and participates in its work. It also establishes and awards prizes for outstanding achievements in research, teaching and science communication in biochemistry, molecular biology and related sciences.
