Obiegówka 2.0 Game on Librarian’s Day
On 8 May – Librarian’s Day and the beginning of Library Week – the second edition of the Obiegówka game organised by the specialist libraries of the University of Wrocław will begin. This year, the University Library is also joining as a co-organiser!
Obiegówka 2.0 is a library-based field game that proved hugely popular last year, and the organisers are confident that this year students and staff will once again flock to the libraries. This time, not only students and staff of the University of Wrocław are invited to take part, but also participants from other universities in Wrocław. It’s worth setting off on a journey through the libraries – from the smallest ones in faculties and institutes, to the large faculty libraries, and – new this year – the University Library itself.
To take part in the game, you must:
- Visit any library participating in the game.
- Collect a game form – the so-called “obiegówka”.
- Fill in the obiegówka with your name, course of study, and university.
The obiegówka includes:
- A list of 20 participating libraries, along with their addresses.
- Space for a stamp from each visited library.
- A section for writing down the answer to a question asked in each library.
How the game works:
- The participant visits any number of libraries from the list, collecting stamps as proof of their visit.
- In each library, the participant asks a librarian a question about the library’s operations or collections and writes the answer in the obiegówka.
- After completing the game, the participant submits their obiegówka in the last visited library.
- The receiving librarian notes the exact date and time of submission on the form.
Game completion and prizes:
- In the event of a tie in the number of stamps, the order of submission – as confirmed by the date and time entered by the librarian – will determine the prize winners.
- After the game concludes, all collected obiegówki will be verified.
- Every participant who submits an obiegówka will receive a certificate of participation.
- Material prizes will be awarded to those who collect the most stamps.
- To be eligible for one of the main prizes, you must collect all 20 stamps.
- Submitting an incomplete obiegówka qualifies for a consolation book prize.
