‘Onkopodcast’ by Fundacja na Ratunek Dzieciom and the University of Wrocław’s lecturers

How to deal with a child’s cancer diagnosis? How to support the young patients and their families? The answers can be found in the Onkopodcast – a project made by Fundacja na Ratunek Dzieciom (Children’s Rescue Foundation) and the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication of the University of Wrocław.

We really recommend the first episode of the podcast- ‘Jestem z Tobą’, in which two lecturers from our university, Joanna Morawiecka and Małgorzata Kolankowska, have a talk with Kornel – a teenage patient of Przylądek Nadziei.

The podcast is available on YouTube and Spotify.

In the next episodes, there will be more conversations with the patients of Przylądek Nadziei, their caretakers, doctors, nurses, psycho-oncologists, and volunteers. „Onkopodkast – jestem z Tobą” is made to help the patients and their families accept the new situation, but also to educate other people on the topic of pediatric oncology.

Onkopodcast gives the answers to many questions which are hunting the parents of sick children. What is life like for a young patient in a hospital setting? Where to look for financial, organizational and psychological support? How to talk with your child?

Another goal of the conversations with the podcast’s guests is helping people understand what the daily life of the hospice’s patients looks like. The listeners can find out more about the reality of living in the clinic and learn how important is the support of the family, but also the medical staff and the volunteers of the Foundation.
