Open Days 2024
Considering the upcoming recruitment for the next academic year, some faculties and institutes will host open days for student candidates. During the series of events, they will get to know the available fields of study and scientific associations or see faculty buildings. In addition, candidates can attend interesting lectures on scientific subjects, meet future professors, and talk to students of specific fields of study. Most importantly, the participants will become familiar with the university’s recruitment process. You can find information about upcoming open days below. We will be updating this list as we receive information from individual faculties.
For detailed information about recruitment rules, field of study descriptions, place limits, and fees for part-time studies, please visit the recruitment website at www.rekrutacja.uni.wroc.pl.
Also, new fields of study will be launched at the University of Wrocław in the 2024/2025 academic year. You can find more information about them here.

FACULTY OF MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE
April 13, 2024, 10.00 am
At 11:00 a.m. we invite you to the Hugo Steinhaus Auditorium (i.e. the HS room) for the integrated faculty inaugural lecture entitled „Matematyczne konsekwencje rzucania lassem i inne historie, czyli o korzyściach z myślenia abstrakcyjnego” (Mathematical implications of throwing a lasso and other stories, or the benefits of abstract thinking), which will be given by dr Anna Wysoczańska-Kula.
Here is a brief summary of this lecture:
Did you know that a mathematician does not have to be able to count? They can even make a mistake in simple math operations (while adding 56 to 48!). A mathematician is rather someone who can identify patterns and schemes as well as describe different situations using a common language. Does a clock and a square have something in common? Does shuffling cards help to solve equations? What are the mathematical implications of throwing a lasso? How to go on a date without your parents overhearing? You shall find out during the lecture! Join me to discover the fascinating world of mathematics!
After the lecture, students interested in computer science will proceed to the Computer Science Institute. Those interested in mathematics are welcome to remain in the HS room.
Schedule of lectures at the Institute of Mathematics:
12:00 p.m. – Andrzej Raczynski, presentation of the field of Mathematics
12:20 p.m. – Klaudia Balcer, „Matematyk w IT” (Mathematician in IT)

There are two runtime engines in a web browser – the Javascript engine and the Webassembly engine. The Webassembly engine can compile programming language like C++ or Rust. We’ll compare the performance of these engines by using a non-difficult problem of animating a Mandelbrot set.
Wiktor holds the role of Lead Software Architect at Vulcan. He is a software engineering expert specializing in .NET and Node.js. He shares his knowledge on his blog and on Stack Overflow (top 0.47% reputation overall) and was a Microsoft MVP.
12:30 p.m. – Presentation of the faculty, our scientific circles and a panel discussion about studying at the UWr Institute of Computer Science with our students. More information coming soon!

Klaudia pursued an undergraduate degree in mathematics while also attending music school. She later completed her master’s degree in mathematics and data science. Due to her previous work experience, Klaudia’s interests shifted towards Data Science, leading her to pursue a PhD in Computer Science at the Department of Computational Intelligence (acronym: ZIOb).
