Opening of COST Regaining linkage at the UWr Faculty of Social Sciences

On April 2-3, the meeting of the COST Action scientific network “Regaining Linkage? Digital Technologies Improving Civic Engagement, Political Organizations and Democracy” (RELINK²) is held. The meeting is hosted by the Institute of Political Science at the University of Wroclaw. The event brings together more than 60 researchers and invited guests from 29 countries to debate artificial intelligence and its potential for civic and political engagement, digital competence in democracy, and the digitization of political organizations.

One of the key highlights of the program was an expert panel discussion entitled: “AI: Opportunities and Challenges for Civic and Political Engagement.” During the panel, participants exchanged opinions on digital transformation and innovation in democracy, emphasizing, among other things, the need for inclusive research, transparent use of AI in e-participation, and increased citizen involvement in decision-making processes. Special attention was also paid to ensuring broad access to AI technologies while guaranteeing privacy and data security.

Artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly important role in public life. Participants of the meeting agreed that it is necessary to strive for a situation in which AI will support, rather than replace, human creativity and decision-making processes. Such an approach will help sustain confidence in democratic systems and strengthen civic participation in the digital age.
