Our political scientist in ECPR Steering Committee

Dr hab. Kamil Glinka, from the Department of Political and Administrative Systems at the Institute of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Wrocław, was elected to be a member of Steering Committee of Standing Group on Central and East European Politics, that is a part of European Consortium for Political Research – ECPR.

Standing Group on Central and East European Politics is one of the largest thematic groups at ECPR. The Steering Committee consists of three individuals representing the universities that are part of the ECPR.

Standing Group on Central and East European Politics consociates the academics conducting researches on both the competitive and developing aspects of the politics of Central and Eastern Europe countries. The group has a direct influence on the ECPR functioning, including the organising of periodic ECPR events, such as General Conference, as it can suggest its own sections and discussion panels. The group can initiate their own research projects and events, such as conferences, sessions and workshops. The soonest is planned to take place next year in Prague. It will be a workshop-type form of event, with the patronage of one of the prominent European political science periodical.

There were six candidates for the Committee. Along side of our political scientist, both prof. Sergiu Gherghina (University of Glasgow) and prof. Gergana Noutcheva (University of Maastricht) have been also elected. The current Steering Committee was elected for a term of three years.

“I perceive being elected to the Steering Committee not only as an honour, but also, and perhaps above all, as a challenge,” asserts dr hab. Kamil Glinka.

Congratulations!
