Our Students in Collaboration with the Wrocław Feature Film Studio

We are pleased to announce that, as part of an agreement signed in May 2024 between the Institute of Romance Studies at the University of Wrocław and the Wrocław Feature Film Studio (Wytwórnia Filmów Fabularnych – WFF), initiated by dr Natalia Likus, students specialising in translation within the Romance Studies programme now have the opportunity to participate in a translation project aimed at preparing a French-language dubbed version of the short animated film Three Cups of Coffee (Trzy filiżanki kawy) by Polish director Natalia Krawczuk, known for such works as Metro and Schrödinger’s Dog.

As part of the project, the students will not only produce the French dubbing script, but also take part in the voice recording process at the sound studio of the Wrocław Feature Film Studio.

The project is coordinated by Anita Kwiatkowska-Naqvi, production coordinator on behalf of WFF Wrocław and dr Natalia Likus from the Institute of Romance Studies of the Faculty of Languages, Literatures and Cultures.

Three Cups of Coffee is a short stop-motion animated film that tells the story of a woman who returns to the city where she once lived to meet a man she once cared about. They meet in a café they used to frequent. The rhythm of their conversation is marked by sips of espresso, and the entire meeting lasts just long enough to drink three cups of coffee. That’s how much time the protagonist needs to come to terms with her past.
