
Our young scientists with ministerial scholarships
The Minister of Science awarded scholarships to 228 outstanding young scientists representing 53 scientific and artistic disciplines.
The competition received 1,708 scholarship applications. Four researchers were among the scholarship recipients from our university:
dr Jakub Bornio (field of social sciences / political sciences and administration)
Assistant professor and deputy director for international cooperation at the Institute of European Studies. In his research dealing with the eastern dimension of European security. For several years he has been researching the Russian-Ukrainian war and its impact on the security of the region.

dr Jagoda Budzik (field of humanities / literature studies)
Assistant professor in the Department of Jewish Studies at the University of Wrocław. She holds a degree in Hebraic studies and theatre studies from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, and in 2019 she defended her dissertation there on images of Poland in the texts of Israeli authors of the third generation after the Holocaust.

dr Marcin Majewski (field of science / chemical sciences)
Assistant professor, working both scientifically and didactically at the UWr Faculty of Chemistry, his research interests include the synthesis and characterisation of new hydrocarbon systems and attempts to link the chemistry of dendrimers and large aromatic macrocycles.

dr Marcin Wągiel (field of humanities / linguistics)
Assistant professor, works at the Incubator of Scientific Excellence – Centre for Corpus and Experimental Research on Slavic Languages “Slavicus”. Formal linguist specialising primarily in the study of universal properties of form and meaning of natural language expressions.

In selecting candidates for the scholarship, an approach derived from the equality of scientific and artistic disciplines was used, which is to award a similar number of scholarships within disciplines. Thus, young scholars competed within a discipline rather than an entire field.
Winners of the competition will receive scholarships of PLN 5 390 per month for three years. More than PLN 44 million has been earmarked for this purpose.
