Polish Algorithm Champion from UWr

On Saturday 25 May, the final round of Potyczki Algorytmiczne 2024, the largest and most important nationwide individual programming competition, ended in Zielona Góra. The winner was our student Łukasz Pluta!

The competition has a tradition of more than 20 years and consists of a series of remote rounds, on the basis of which 20 people are selected to compete for the title of Algorithmist of the Year during a five-hour final competition, says Professor Paweł Gawrychowski, from the Department of Computational Complexity and Algorithms at the UWr Institute of Computer Science, once also a winner of this competition. – The competition has an open formula: high school students, undergraduates and people who have been working professionally for a long time all compete.

This year’s winner was Łukasz Pluta, who studies computer science at the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Wrocław.

Łukasz represented the University of Wrocław at the ICPC World Finals in Luxor in April (in a team with Anadi Agrawal and Adam Górkiewicz), and will represent the University of Wrocław again at the ICPC World Finals in Astana in September (in a team with Krzysztof Boryczka and Antoni Buraczewski).

Łukasz has been programming since the 3rd year of high school. He graduated from ALOPWr. – Apart from programming, I have an amateur interest in chess and poker – he admits. – I also swim sometimes.

Further places on the podium were taken by Yahor Dubovik and Krzysztof Potępa. Also reaching the final round were Antoni Buraczewski (high fifth place), Oskar Fiuk, Krzysztof Olejnik, who also study computer science at the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Wrocław.

The competition is organised by the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw.

Congratulations!
