Postgraduate Studies in Translation at the UWr Institute of English Studies
Postgraduate Studies in Translation has been in continuous existence since 1998 and has more than 2,000 graduates. They include translators of the European Union institutions, the European Court of Human Rights, sworn translators, owners and employees of translation agencies, teachers, attorneys, legal advisors, translators of banks and many other companies, and even an Irish lady lawyer, a CBA officer, a U.S. Marine veteran and a retired hobbyist.
The study programme lasts two semesters and includes 180 hours of instruction in eight subjects. Classes are held online on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., from October to June, with breaks for holidays and vacations in between, and graduates receive a postgraduate certificate from the University of Wrocław. Classes are taught by academic teachers with many years of experience in teaching translation, as well as translators employed by large companies operating in Wrocław or running their own translation agencies. – Polish and English legal and economic terminology (30 hours)
– Translation of contracts (30 hours)
– Interpreting (30 hours)
– Translation of business documents (16 hours)
– Certified translation (30 hours)
– Translation of financial documents (16 hours)
– Practical Polish Style (14 hours)
– Computer assisted translation (14 hours)
Enrollment for the next edition of the Postgraduate Studies is open until 15.10.2024. The recruitment rules in effect for the 2024/2025 academic year are presented on the study website under the recruitment tab.
All classes will be conducted online on the MS Teams platform, which allows classes to be recorded and gives students the opportunity to replay them at their convenience.
