
Prof. Andrzej Antoszewski to receive University of Opole’s doctor honoris causa title
We are pleased to inform you that long-time University of Wrocław worker prof. dr hab. Andrzej Antoszewski will receive a doctor honoris causa title from the University of Opole.
The title of doctor honoris causa will be bestowed during this year’s celebration of the University Day at the University of Opole. The ceremony will take place on 10 March 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Auditorium Hall of the University of Opole (Opole, Oleska 48).
Prof. dr hab. Andrzej Antoszewski is the doyen of political science in Poland, the creator of the school of comparative studies in the democratic transformation of countries and societies. For his entire academic career he was affiliated with the Institute of Political Science at the University of Wrocław, starting out as an assistant before becoming a full professor. The first position he took in 1972, the latter – in 1999. He is the author (or co-author) of 16 monographs, the editor of over 10 collective works and almost 200 academic articles on the theory and practice of modern political systems. He boasts the supervision of approx. 500 master’s and bachelor’s theses, 22 doctoral theses and participation in over 60 doctorates and 40 habilitations as a reviewer.
Prof. dr hab. Andrzej Antoszewski is one of the greatest Polish political scientists, whose acclaimed work contributed to the institutional development of the discipline and the formation of its academic identity. Since the 1990s, he has been a member of the Political Sciences Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, between and 2006 and 2020 (4 terms) he was a member of Central Committee for the Academic Degrees and Titles, and between 1996 and 1999 he was the director of the Institute of Political Science of the University of Wrocław.
