Prof. dr hab. Jerzy Mroziński passed away

It is with deep regret that we inform you that prof. dr hab. Mroziński passed away on 23 October 2024. Retired academic teacher at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Wrocław. Long-time Head of the Molecular Magnetism Group and Head of the Department of Chemistry Didactics.

His entire scientific career was associated with our University of Wrocław, where he went through successive levels of scientific promotion. Professor Jerzy Mroziński, together with the Molecular Magnetism Team, was engaged in the design and synthesis of new molecular magnetic materials, research on new generation molecular magnets, nanomagnets, dynamics of electron transfer processes in multinuclear and heteronuclear complexes on mixed oxidation steps. An outstanding Scientist, his scientific activities were appreciated both in Poland and abroad. He was the author of numerous scientific publications in the field of molecular magnetism.

Prof. Jerzy Mroziński was Chairman of the Coordinating Chemistry Section of the Polish Chemical Society and Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Scientific Director of the international “Winter Schools of Coordinating Chemistry” in Karpacz (since 1990), Chairman of the District Committee of the Chemical Olympiad in Wrocław, member of the National Committee for Cooperation with the European Science Foundation (ESF) at the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences, member of the Academie Europeenne des Sciences des Arts et des Letters and member of the Coordinating Committee of the European Science Foundation Program” ‘Molecular Magnets’.

Educator of many generations of students, promoter of master’s theses and doctorates.

Professor was a person of indefatigable energy, cordial and kind to his colleagues.

This is how we will remember him. The passing of Professor fills us with sadness and regret.

Funeral ceremonies will be held on Wednesday, 30 October, at 12:00 pm at the cemetery at ul. Kiełczowska in Wrocław.
