
Prof. Monika Richarz’s collection at the University of Wrocław
In December, a festive meeting was held in the auditorium of the prof. J. Woronczak, Chair of Jewish Studies, on the occasion of bringing back from Berlin the collection of the most important researcher of the history of the Jewish community in Germany, prof. Monika Richarz. The Consulate General of Germany financed the transportation of the books. The event was also an opportunity to celebrate the establishment of a partnership with the Consulate. As Department Head dr Wojciech Tworek said (quoting Humphrey Bogart): This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!
Dean of the Faculty of Languages, Cultures and Literatures, prof. Justyna Ziarkowska and German Consul Martin Kremer also spoke at the ceremony. Dr Tim Buchen of the Chair of Jewish Studies introduced the attendees to prof. Richarz’s scholarly biography and emphasized the value of the new book collection to the development of research on the Jewish community in Breslau being conducted at the Wrocław Chair of Jewish Studies. Library manager dr Monika Jaremków assured that she would do her best to make the collection available to readers as soon as possible.
