
Prof. Zbigniew Przerembski as a special guest at a meeting on Kashubian bagpipes in Chmielno
Today, 24 February, at 5:30 p.m., a meeting devoted to the reconstruction and construction of the Kashubian bagpipes kôzlô barina will take place at the Municipal Centre of Culture, Sport and Recreation in Chmielno, with the participation of a scholar from the University of Wrocław.
Prof. dr hab. Zbigniew Przerembski of the Institute of Musicology of the Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences at the University of Wrocław and the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences will appear as the event’s special guest. Professor will take part in discussions and consultations concerning the history, construction and historical performance practice of this instrument, sharing his expertise in ethnomusicology and bagpipe research.
The meeting constitutes the culmination of the project “Jak powstaje kôzlô barina” – a series of workshops on building the traditional instrument, combined with a presentation and discussion of the individual stages of its construction. The event has a workshop-academic character and forms part of broader efforts to reconstruct and revive a unique element of Kashubian musical heritage.
