Professor Urszula Glensk’s publication wins the Grand Press 2025 Award
We are pleased to announce that the publication by prof. Urszula Glensk, entitled Pinezka. Zapiski z granicy polsko-białoruskiej, has won the Grand Press 2025 Award in the category Reportage Book of the Year, ex aequo with the book by Adam Zadworny, and has also received the special Audience Award.
The book had previously been shortlisted among the final five titles in the prestigious Grand Press 2025 competition in the Reportage Book of the Year category. At the same time, a readers’ vote was held, allowing members of the public to cast their ballots via the official Grand Press website.
In the autumn of 2021, Professor Glensk travelled to the Polish–Belarusian border, where for a year she observed the early stages of the emerging migration crisis. The outcome of this research is Pinezka… – a multidimensional narrative constructed from volunteers’ testimonies, interviews with residents of the Podlasie region, and the author’s own observations. The book explores themes of escalating tensions, the erosion of trust in public authorities, motivations behind acts of humanitarian assistance, and the reactions of local communities and the Border Guard to the arrival of those perceived as “outsiders.” It documents tragic events whose gravity often defied verbal expression.
The laureates of the Grand Press 2025 awards were announced during a ceremonial gala held on Sunday, 14 December. The event was broadcast live on the Facebook profile of the Grand Press Foundation and on the TVN24 television channel.
We extend our warmest congratulations to prof. Urszula Glensk on this outstanding achievement.
