Volume XIII – About natural world and culture
The volume includes the lectures and introductions to discussions presented at the Studium Generale seminar in the academic year 2007/2008. In that academic year, themes included the problems within nature and culture.
The first thematic block presents articles devoted to inanimate matter and plant and animal organisms, emphasising the process and role of evolution. It pays attention to stability and variability (mechanisms of evolution). Medical problems are also presented, including factors that can cause pathologies in the human body and ways to prevent them.
The section on culture presents artistic activities in the field of painting, sculpture, architecture, and literature. It also shows the connections between these activities and nature, historical conditions, and the sphere of spiritual experiences. The final part of the section refers to the post-war history of Lower Silesia and Wrocław, showing the activities and achievements of the Polish people who came to this area against the background of the achievements in past eras.
