
Objectives
Objectives for improving quality of research and education at the University of Wrocław within the Excellence Initiative – Research University project.
1. Increasing the impact of the university’s research activities on the development of global science.
- C.1.1 Preparing university-wide mechanisms that motivate the staff to constantly improve their research quality and creating optimal publication policies publication policies that are optimal from the point of view of scientific disciplines and research problems.
- C.1.2 Developing processes which support the application and implementation of scientific grants, e.g. providing access to appropriate equipment and scientific information databases (journals and monographs)
2. Enhancing research collaboration with research institutions of high international reputation.
- C.2.1 Activities supporting the internationalization of the results of research conducted at the University of Wroclaw
- C.2.2 Actions supporting the exchange of experience with researchers from top foreign universities.
3. Improving the quality of education for students and doctoral students.
- C.3.1 Improving the student/teacher ratio.
- C.3.2 Introducing new systemic incentives to improve the quality of education
- C.3.3 Introducing flexible teaching models that match the student choices and the environment’s needs.
- C.3.4 Reinforcing the accuracy and effectiveness of promotional activities concerning the educational offer of the University of Wrocław
4. Devising and implementing comprehensive solutions for the professional development of the university’s staff.
- C.4.1 Building university-wide mechanisms to motivate employees to continuously improve the quality of research
- C.4.2 Providing competitive salaries for exceptional scholars, especially young ones.
- C.4.3 Introducing quality-driven HR policies which support hiring and retaining only the best researchers.
5. Improving the quality of university management, including pro-quality organizational changes.
- C.5.1 Introducing process-oriented and strategic university management to reach the university’s full potential and counteract organisational barriers.
- C.5.2 Diversifying the sources of the university’s budget while maintaining the stability of expenditures for funding preliminary research, research infrastructure and teaching.
- C.5.3 Professionalization of the administration, including the creation of mechanisms to support pro-quality recruitment and rules for promotions and salaries, as well as the improvement of the administration’s competence.
6. Raising the international significance of the university’s performance.
- C.6.1 Overcoming the widening gap in the level of research and teaching between disciplines within the University (supporting all the other objectives).
- C.6.2 Maintaining and reinforcing top-quality assets: equipment for experimental sciences and the access to major articles’ and monographs’ online databases for humanities and social sciences.
- C.6.3 Removing the barriers in teaching and research caused by the administrative division between faculties, institutes and departments.
