Results of workshops by students of the Faculty of Languages, Literatures and Cultures
We are pleased to announce that the Institute of Slavic Studies at the University of Wrocław (ul. Pocztowa 9, 3rd floor) is currently hosting the photography exhibition “SłowoWobraz. Fotografia literacka” (eng. WordInImage: Literary Photography). The displayed works were created during a series of creative workshops held in May 2025, open to students of the University of Wrocław.
The workshops brought together students from Ukrainian, Polish, Czech, and English Studies, as well as the programme “Culture and Practice of Text: Creative Writing and Editing.” During two days of classes, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of photography, after which they selected emotionally resonant texts from Ukrainian literature to create infrazy – original, subjective photographs inspired by their reading.
The workshop was an opportunity to develop both literary and visual competencies, integrating diverse perspectives and artistic sensibilities.
The project was conceived and organised by dr Anna Ursulenko (Department of Ukrainian Studies), while the photography component was led by Justyna Żądło – photographer and graduate of Polish Studies, who also curated the exhibition.
We warmly invite you to visit and reflect on this unique encounter between image and word – within the cool interior of the Institute, offering a moment of pause during the intense exam period.
As the slogan of Frames magazine reminds us: “Excellent photography belongs on paper.” And in our case – also in dialogue with literature.
