Safe UWr

Fire, toxins, structural collapse, weapons on university grounds, hazardous objects, pyrotechnic or explosive materials, suspicious packages, and aggressive behaviour are just some examples in the open list of potential dangers.

Buildings at the University of Wrocław are systematically equipped with alarm systems, panic buttons, or are monitored by rapid response security teams. Their purpose is to ensure the prompt arrival of trained security personnel when needed.

According to the regulations in force at UWr, individuals displaying aggressive behaviour are not permitted on university premises. In such cases, the appropriate services will take action to restore public order.

What should you do in a dangerous situation?

What if you or someone around you is at immediate risk of serious injury or death?

Everyone has a duty to call the emergency number 112 or inform the porter, who will activate the panic or alarm system, or call in the intervention team.

In the event of an attack, do not escalate the aggression. Instead, observe the perpetrator carefully and try to remember as many details as possible about their appearance and behaviour (physical description, gestures, speech, etc.).

Once the perpetrator has left the premises, the exit should be secured.

Follow the instructions of the emergency personnel and try to identify any witnesses to the incident.

If necessary, provide first aid and remain with the injured person until emergency services arrive. If the emergency services refuse to transport the person you have helped, request written confirmation of the refusal.

UWr maintains ongoing cooperation with national and local public safety services.

Remember, psychological support is extremely important. With the help of specialists, many tragedies can be prevented.
